Receiving Email Notifications

If you want to stay up to date with certain forums and topics, you can easily subscribe to it and receive email notifications.

Here are examples of how to subscribe to an entire forum or an individual topic:

You can always visit your user profile to manage your subscriptions.
You can also bookmark topics, which gives you a way to go back and find important topics, but not receive too many notifications about them.

Lastly, when you're posting a new topic, you can subscribe to it right away by clicking one box.

In addition, it may be necessary to configure your profile to receive email notifications for Private Messages, and possibly even enable your ability to actually receive Private Messages. You can enable this in the User Control Panel under "Board Preferences".

Also, an interesting idiosyncrasy of the forum software we are using -- when you send a Private Message it will remain in your Outbox until the recipient has opened the message. Apparently it is editable while in the Outbox, so you have the ability to revise the message as needed up to the point when it is read by the recipient. This explains why PM's appear to be "stuck" in the Outbox when you send them.
