Women climbers?

Looking for a climbing partner? Post here!

by climber33 » Fri Nov 10, 2017 2:04 am

If ever a woman climber should stumble upon this post and want to meet other women climbers in Boston or NE area, I started a Facebook group for this very reason. It's a private group and you actually have to be a woman to join :) Sorry guys ;)

Hello,
I am looking for fellow female climbers in the area (I live in Ipswich, MA) and just got into ice climbing this past winter (3x) and have been going to metrorock for the past few months. I am going to Idaho for an all womens rock climbing clinic in June, but really want to meet local partners to hit up the White Mtns with and some areas in MA as well.

I just got off all social media...any other way to connect?

Hi Kristina!

Well, from another former cyclists, yay for finding the rock community too! I think we made awkward eye contact at ice fest but I wasn't sure it was you without the RSC kit & cycling helmet :-)

My #1 recommendation is to do the AMC Rock program. This year's program is finishing up now... but I'd recommend it for next spring for sure! It's the best way to meet a large number of people in the community and learn all the most important outdoor climbing skills.

More info here: http://www.amcbostonclimbers.com/rock-program/

There's an Ice program too, and I also highly recommend it once you have some outdoor climbing experience under your belt.

I'm not as familiar with other ways to start climbing but I'll let you know if good beginner opportunities pop up!
